Michelle Dougherty got her feet wet with Sonic Sea, an upcoming full-length documentary about protecting our oceans and their inhabitants from harmful, man-made noise pollution.

That’s right - noise. Just as we rely on sight to survive, marine life depends on sound to communicate, feed, and find their mates. Noise in our oceans is hard to observe, but its effects are visibly traumatic and well-documented. In partnership with Diamond Docs, NRDC and IFAW, we interviewed American scientists, Norwegian fisherman - even Sting - to speak about the destruction that underwater noise pollution wreaks on a global scale. Rachel McAdams has also joined the fight - the actress and environmentalist lends her voice as Sonic Sea's narrator.
