IF's weekly highlight on the people that make up our company. This week the spotlight is on Tommy Asbee.
Tommy Asbee is an IT Systems Administrator who has been with the company for two years. Here are his thoughts:
On where he's from:
Born and raised in Long Beach, CA.
On where he went to school:
Loyola Marymount University (LMU) � majored in Business Admin w/ emphasis in marketing�
On how he got into the business:
After spending 10 years in the education field I needed a change. I�ve always been interested in both technology and how the entertainment field uses these advances in their industry.
On how he first got involved with IF:
I was brought in to help work on Discoveryland Co., and apparently someone liked me enough to hire me full time �or maybe it was the cash bribe.
On how long he's been with IF:
Going on two years
On what he does for IF:
IT System Administrator, plus I help support our technology based projects.
On his favorite IF projects:
The two I�ve personally worked on � LACMA and Discoveryland Co. LACMA was my first introduction into the world of digital signage deployment. Amazing!!!
On his alternate career choice:
Something dealing with food & wine.
On hobbies:
A little of this and a lot of that.
On NY or LA:
LA is where I am from and where my roots are. I�ve always loved the fact that I can go to the beach or to the mountains within a few hours. The people, the food, the different neighborhoods all lend to the uniqueness of this town.
On what excites him about design or production:
The fact that it is constantly changing � nothing is static. You push yourself to the bounds of the possible and then figure out how to push forward and make the impossible work.
On what inspires him:
Everything around me� Music, Family, Food, Nature.
On what he does in his spare time:
Enjoy time with my 6 year old daughter, Jordan.
On the last place he traveled:
Costa Rica
On the current design trend that excites him most?
The use of traditional content mixed with digital technology. I am fascinated by the different uses of digital media and how it can be an interactive experience for the client or customer.
On his dream job:
Winemaker in Italy.
