SPOTLIGHT: BRETT KRAUSS

IF's weekly highlight on the people that make up our company. This week the spotlight is on Brett Krauss.
Brett Krauss is a designer working out of Imaginary Forces' LA office. Here are his thoughts:
On where he's from:
Warminster, PA - A tough suburb outside of Philadelphia.
On where he went to school:
I was an Illustration major at Syracuse University.
On how he got into this business:
I always wanted to draw & paint the backgrounds for cartoons & animated movies. So when I got a job at Nickelodeon as a background artist on the show Hey Arnold! I loved it and yada yada yada.
On how he first got involved at IF:
A friend of a friend of a friend worked here and he got me a job as a PA and then I became a design assistant, then became a designer. Why run when you can walk?
On favorite IF projects:
The Cat in the Hat main titles. It was fun getting to recreate a childhood favorite of mine.
On alternate career choices:
No doubt a detective. I can spot a 4 leaf clover while walking plus I just picked up the hobby of shooting handguns.
On NY vs LA:
I do prefer the East coast mentality but can't beat the West coast weather. After going to school in upstate NY I never want to see snow again.
On what excites him about design:
I get excited when I get to use my illustration background and design a sequence that is heavily illustrative.
On what he does in his spare time:
I love playing golf, tennis, or watching any of the Philadelphia sports teams especially the Eagles. Eagles vs. Chargers Super Bowl XLIII (you heard it here first).
On pets:
When I was younger I had 2 pets that I a have a phobia against. Piranas and snakes.
On the last place he traveled:
Just got back from the happiest place on earth and it really is: Disney World.
On current design trends:
The trend that I see and like is the heavy watercolor look. It may be getting overused but I really like it.
On his dream job:
Even when I was young I always wanted to design roller coasters.
On something someone may not know about him:
I made a swimsuit calendar of myself & it is selling really well in Lizbekistan.
