Communication Arts
03 17 2009
"Communication Arts" celebrates their 50th Anniversary (with plenty of Imaginary Forces to go around) Design magazine Communication Arts' latest issue celebrates 50 years of publication with a lavish issue dedicated to last 50 years of design and advertising. Communication Arts 50th Anniversary issue was very complimentary in referencing Imaginary Forces in several of its articles. First up, an article on leading designer Herman Miller details their history and groundbreaking work. In the article, images from IF's "Get Real" promotional video demonstrate the difference between the original and commercialized copies. Next, in the issues 50 years of design time line, three of IF's projects are pointed out as breakthrough works of their time. The main titles for Se7en, the holographic experience design project for Lexus, and the titles for Mad Men all reference historical points for the company. And finally, in a visual genealogy of design firms, a honeycomb diagram illustrates IF's origin from NY based R/Greenberg Associates and branches off to the companies that have since been formed by former IF directors; Prologue Films, Motion Theory, and yU+co.
