How do you re-conceive Laguna Beach as a virtual world? That was the challenge IF faced when working with MTV and There.com to create Virtual Laguna Beach, based on the network's popular show. IF designed the buildings, environment, and connective elements that make the world feel like the real Laguna Beach. IF also designed clothing, accessories, and re-designed avatars to fit the Laguna Beach look. The result is an interactive experience where participants can explore, meet and engage others, and experience Laguna Beach themselves.
To implement this project IF collaborated with Makena Technologies. “Imaginary Forces was the first external design company to use our Makena technology -- the same technology used to build the There.com online service - in the construction of Virtual Laguna Beach,” says Michael Wilson, CEO of Makena Technologies, creators of There.com.
MTV's Virtual Laguna Beach won a 2007 Emmy for "Outstanding Achievement in Advanced Media Technology for Creation of Non Traditional Programs or Platforms."
