Imaginary Forces directed and designed two short films for the Herman Miller Home Collection. “Get Real” pays homage to the strength and history of the Herman Miller brand by playfully juxtaposing genuine creations with their derivative knock-offs in order to establish the value of authenticity. For the latest film, “Celle,” IF designed a character that springs to life from the Celle chair and proceeds to playfully illustrate the innovative, made-from-cells design of Herman Miller’s latest piece of furniture.
Among the authentic Herman Miller furniture designs presented in the visual tapestry are the Eames chairs, Nelson bench, Marshmallow sofa and Coconut chair, Noguchi coffee table and Alvar Aaalto chairs and stools. A Mingus jazz score reinforces the fluidity and spontaneity underlying the design process of these creations as well as the concept of “You Can Get Real.”
